Voting Equipment

ACCUVOTE OPTICAL SCAN

Whether you choose to early vote, go to your polling place on election day, or vote by mail, you will be given a paper ballot.

Once you have completed your ballot, the ballot will then be “fed” into the slot on top of the OPTICAL SCAN TABULATOR and your votes will be tallied.

If you are voting by a vote-by-mail ballot, you must return your voted ballot to the Columbia County Supervisor of Elections office no later than 7:00 pm on Election Day (per Florida Statute 101.67).  Then those voted ballots will be “fed” into the OPTICAL SCAN TABULATOR during the canvassing of the vote-by-mail ballots (per Florida Statute 101.68).

ACCUVOTE TOUCHSCREEN

The AccuVote Touchscreen Tabulator is available for voters with disabilities at polling sites and early voting locations.

The Touchscreen has many features:
The voter can magnify the screen, increase the size of the ballot text, and vote by touching the screen or by using a keypad.
The voter can choose to listen to the ballot read through a headset and vote by using a keypad.
The voter can increase or decrease the volume and control the speed at which the ballot is read.
The ballot choices can be reviewed and confirmed prior to casting the final ballot.
