Elizabeth (Liz) P. Horne is a lifelong Columbia County resident where she and her husband (Leo) have successfully raised two sons. Her extended family includes eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. As a successful business owner, Mrs. Horne assisted her husband in running their family owned business for over 33 years. In addition, she also worked for the Columbia County School System for four years as a school bus driver. Beyond her private sector experience, Mrs. Horne accumulated a vast knowledge of the local election process through her 16 years of public service in the Elections Office prior to becoming Supervisor in 2004.
Mrs. Horne is a member of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections and has served in the following capacity with the association: Elections Committee, Rules Development Committee, Communications and Publications Committee, Small County Supervisors (Chairperson), Education and Hospitality Committees, and the International Association of Clerks, Election Officials and Treasurers.
As an active member of the community, Mrs. Horne participates in many local boards and/or associations. She is currently a member of the following organizations: CARC, Seniors United, Board of Mason City Community Center, Columbia County Friends of the Library, Member Northside Baptist Church and Red Hat Ladies Society.
Mrs. Horne is also a past member of the following local organizations and committees: Kiwanis of Lake City, Florida Records Management Association, Downtown Action Corporation, Columbia County and Lake City Chamber of Commerce, and Stewardship - Hopeful Baptist Church.
